ANA CLAUDIA MICHELS

Ex Model and New Doctor.

THE BEAUTY TALK

ANA, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST EMPOWERING THING ABOUT BEING A WOMAN IN BRAZIL?
The unequal relationship mothers have with their children comparing to fathers.

IT’S THE FIRST TIME THAT SOMEONE ANSWERS THAT.
If my husband reads this I hope will not get offended because I consider him a role model, but this doesn’t mean he can’t get better.

I’LL MAKE SURE HE READS THIS !
(Laughs).

WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE?
It’s a quick one. I’m not really into spending a lot of time on masks and massages. I have no patience for massages. I have one moisturizer and I always use mascara. I think mascara changes everything.

I’M SURE YOU WERE ALWAYS VERY NATURAL. HAS YOUR ROUTINE CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED TO WORK AS A DOCTOR?
I’m just starting to realize that I’m going to be a doctor. That is really settling in. Before that, it was just a crazy dream. Anyway, since the last few months I started dressing up more like a lady. I hate that word (laughs). When I was a model I was always using sneakers and t-shirts. But I know that being a doctor you have to dress a little bit more seriously. So this is the newest change, probably for the worst but I look more my age. Also I realized it’s been two months that I haven’t left my house without make up. I always have at least concealer, mascara and some blush and now I don’t leave the house anymore without those on. I think I have a responsibility toward my patients, I have to look like a doctor.

I LOVE THE HONESTY! I WISH I COULD SEE YOUR MENTAL MOOD BOARD OF HOW A DOCTOR IS SUPPOSED TO DRESS (LAUGHS)!
Haha!

IS THERE ONE PRODUCT YOU LOVE AND YOU CAN ONLY FIND IN BRAZIL?
Not really… I use so little things that I always ask my friends to buy my beauty products from abroad.

WHAT IS THE BEAUTY HABIT THAT BRAZILIAN WOMEN, SPECIFICALLY, HAVE?
They always have their nails done. Doesn’t matter how much they earn or whatever they do, it’s always done. I admire that. I think it’s cute. Brazilian women can go out with messy hair, flip flops on their feet but their nails will be done. On the contrary, I’m super lazy, I can’t do that. I never do my nails. When I’ll have more time I’ll do it more.

TALKING ABOUT CHANGES, YOU CUT YOUR HAIR SUPER SHORT. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?
I always like to change. I have a friend who is a hairdresser and a make-up artist and he said : « let’s cut your hair » and I just went for it.

THEY SAY A WOMAN CHANGES HER HAIR WHEN SHE CHANGES SOMETHING BIG IN HER LIFE…
I’m gonna be a doctor, I think that’s it.

ANY WOMAN ICON?
Michelle Obama! I love her. I think she’s the best.

AND SHE CHANGED HER HAIR A LOT ! (LAUGHS). THANK YOU ANA.
Thank you!
